How to Polish the Solid Membrane

When the response is poor or the surface of the membrane is dirty, use the following procedure to polish the electrodes.

1. Remove the protective cap attached to the tip of the electrode.

2. Place a small amount of pure water (or ion-exchanged water) polishing sheet.

3. Polish the membrane in a circular motion about 10 times.

Notes

  • Hold the electrodes so that they are perpendicular to the polishing sheet.
  • Lightly polish the membrane surfce so that it is parallel to the polishing sheet.

4. Thoroughly wash the polished Pt electrode with pure water (or ion-exchanged water) and wipe it off with filter paper or tissue paper.

5. Attach the protective cap to the tip of the electrode.
